Do the Knicks have enough assets to complete a Dejounte Murray trade?
According to the newest NBA trade rumors, the New York Knicks made a blockbuster OG Anunoby trade on Saturday, but the franchise may not be done trading. Before making the Anunoby trade, the team was rumored to be interested in a Dejounte Murray trade with the Atlanta Hawks, and those whispers continue even after the team gave up assets for the former Toronto Raptors star.
“According to league sources, the Knicks will remain active in the trade market.” The Knicks have been eyeing Anunoby and Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, as previously revealed by HoopsHype,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype wrote on Saturday. “While losing Quickley seemingly hurts a potential trade package for Murray on paper, Murray remains a player the Knicks are interested in acquiring, league sources said.”
The Knicks clearly handed up some significant assets in the OG Anunoby trade, which also included former Raptors Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn. In exchange, the Knicks gave to Toronto RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second-round pick from the Detroit Pistons (likely the 31st pick in the draft).
New York still has a sizable asset pool that might be used to facilitate a Dejounte Murray trade.
