In Week 17, the Bengals are hopeful Ja’Marr Chase can return from injury in order to keep their prospects of making the playoffs alive.

In Week 16, the Cincinnati Bengals were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers while Ja’Marr Chase was out. Head coach Zac Taylor is hoping Chase will play as the Bengals get ready for their Week 17 battle against the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, according to Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Taylor is officially categorizing Chase as day-to-day. Cincinnati will see if Chase can make it through practice sessions before he returns, since there is no set timeline for his return.

In Week 15, Chase sustained a shoulder injury that was eventually diagnosed as an AC joint sprain. Given that his Week 17 health was uncertain, he was predicted to miss at least Week 16. Although Taylor is still holding out, the Bengals would greatly benefit from Chase’s return.

Cincinnati’s current season record is 8-7 following their loss to the Steelers. If they want to make the postseason, they’ll need to win and maybe some assistance. However, having Chase on the field will be a huge advantage if the Bengals manage to sneak in.

Chase has caught 93 catches for 1,156 yards and seven touchdowns this season through 14 games. In terms of receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, he leads the Bengals.
