One of Auburn’s first significant additions in the 2024 class was White.
As soon as they had a chance, during the 2023 recruiting class that concluded in December of last year, Hugh Freeze was hired as head coach, and he brought in Philip Montgomery to serve as his offensive coordinator. From there, they looked to the 2024 class and potential signal-caller of the future.
With some of the greatest quarterbacks in the country already committed to other schools and others having relationships with other institutions for some time, Auburn was well behind in the arms race for quarterbacks. Auburn faced a difficult challenge ahead of them. After watching tape of the nation’s best quarterbacks for just 48 hours, Auburn narrowed in on Walker White as the number one pick in the 2024 class.
With only six weeks to recruit him and a single, unofficial visit in January, Clemson appeared to be the front-runner when it came time to make a decision in early February. But White made the decision and committed to the Auburn Tigers.
“I believe Walker White will become a famous person.” “I believe he possesses every quality a quarterback ought to have,” Freeze declared on Signing Day. He seems like a real Auburn man to me. I believe he has all the necessary skill sets, but I’m not sure how quickly he will adapt to this game.”
White helped guide his team to the 6A state championship game while he was a senior at Little Rock Christian Academy (Ark.). He will have one more opportunity to experience high school before he enrols at Auburn in January. On January 6, he will play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
For him, the work is now done as the leader of the recruiting class and now tries to become the leader on the field for Auburn. From a “Most Wanted” list shortly after he committed, to special social media videos to other recruits, to making custom Auburn pendants for his fellow commits and even making a sweatshirt with other top targets’ names on it, White was determined to build a good class around him.
It was something that Freeze and his staff heavily appreciated, getting an extra recruiter on staff.
“He’s just been really persistent in trying to build his team,” It is what you require. Freeze remarked, “You need a couple of those.” “To name a few, individuals like Keionte Scott, Jaylin Simpson, Austin Keys, and Damari Alston are contributing and acting similarly. However, Walker assumed responsibility and showed leadership by saying, “Hey, let’s put together a top-10 class.” We have stated that is what we had desired. He definitely stepped right in and made every effort to assist us in doing that.”
On Wednesday, White had the opportunity to formally close the chapter on his recruiting experience and begin a new one at Auburn.
On Signing Day, White stated, “Hell yeah, it feels good—it feels great,” on the Auburn Undercover Podcast. “It felt great to sign and spend the entire day becoming an official Auburn Tiger in front of all the people I love and have known my entire life.” It was a noteworthy day. It’s quite soothing; all I have to do now is keep working and prepare for my January arrival. Undoubtedly, it lifts a burden from my shoulders.”
According to 247Sports, Auburn’s new quarterback is the No. 7 quarterback and No. 97 player in the 2024 class. According to Auburn’s signing class press release, White is described as 6 feet 4 inches and 220 pounds.
