A five-star football prospect from Florida State has transferred to FAMU.
Football transfer from Florida State Demorie Tate is transferring his talent to Florida A&M. The former five-star defensive back has agreed to join the SWAC and HBCU national champions. After entering the transfer portal following the 2022 season, he sat out the entire 2023 season.
Demorie Tate was one of the most rated players in the 2020 class, the first under Mike Norvell at Florida State, coming out of Orlando’s Freedom High School. 247Sports ranked him as the No. 22 overall talent, No. 3 CB, and No. 4 recruit in the state of Florida for the 2020 class. Tate picked Florida State over offers from Miami, Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn. He redshirted in 2020 and played in one game for Florida State football in 2021, although he did not register any defensive statistics.
Tate will join a Florida A&M team that finished 12-1 in 2023, including a 30-26 victory in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday. He is also one of several former FBS players who joined early with FAMU, including former Florida Atlantic quarterback Daniel Richardson and wide receiver A’Ceon Cobb. Sage Ennis, a former Clemson tight end, committed to FAMU on Sunday.
