These three Eagles have already demonstrated that they are unfit to play in 2024.
The Philadelphia Eagles are beginning to feel the pressure after three straight losses. They fell to the Seattle Seahawks, but they also had an opportunity to distance themselves from the Dallas Cowboys, who were defeated by the Bills on Sunday.
Their season is far from done even at 10-4. They still have a chance to finish as the top seed overall in addition to winning the NFC East. Their schedule, which includes two games against the failing New York Giants and one against the Arizona Cardinals in between, is one thing working in their favor.
The Eagles know there are significant gaps to be filled even if they manage to win all three. A few players are also out of the picture for 2024. We examine three of these team members here.
Quez Watkins, a once-promising prospect, finished his second season with the Eagles in 2021 with 647 yards. Even though he had less yardage in 2022, he still managed three touchdowns and 354 yards. However, he has been an issue since 2023.
Watkins has missed time because of injury, but when he has played, being targeted has caused problems. The most recent instance was on Monday Night Football, when a pass intended for him resulted in one of Jalen Hurts’ two picks. Even though Watkins was interfered with and the officials failed to call it, he gave up on the play and did not pursue the ball.
The Eagles would be better off letting Watkins depart as he is eligible for free agency in the spring. They need a more reliable wide receiver, but they have two excellent players in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
