5-star security KJ Bolden transfers from Florida State to Georgia.
Georgia’s signing day headliner was a familiar face: KJ Bolden.
The 5-star safety is one of Georgia’s most experienced recruits in the 2024 cycle. Kirby Smart recruited the Buford (Ga.) athlete throughout his high school career. Bolden made one of the most stunning decisions of the day on Wednesday.
On the first day of the early signing period, Bolden switched his pledge from Florida State to Georgia. Bolden will shortly become the Bulldogs’ 28th early signing period signee.
As a result, Georgia’s signing class this year has 316.03 points, the third-highest total in school history.
“Coach Kirby is absolutely unique. “He’s truly unique, plain and simple,” Bolden told Dawgs247. “He’s unlike any of the other coaches.” He enjoys developing relationships. He may be your friend, buddy, brother, and coach all at the same time. He’s a true mentor.”
Georgia’s recruitment came full circle at the last minute.
For the majority of his recruiting, the Bulldogs were the overwhelming favorite. On Aug. 5, he shocked most of the college football world by committing to his former dream school, Florida State.
Georgia never stopped recruiting the 5-star Seminoles commit. Bolden came to Georgia for a game against South Carolina early in the season. Last week, Smart, Will Muschamp, and director of recruiting David Cooper paid an in-person visit to Bolden. This is when the recruitment took a final turn.
Late in the game, Florida State had to hold off Georgia and Auburn. The Bulldogs eventually won the recruitment war.
“Coach Kirby has been recruiting me longer than anyone since the ninth grade,” Bolden told reporters.
Bolden’s pledge to Georgia’s No. 1 recruiting class takes the Bulldogs’ 2024 class to 28 players. In this defensive backs class, he joins Demello Jones, Ellis Robinson IV, and Ondre Evans.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety is the nation’s No. 1 safety, the No. 15 overall recruit, and Georgia’s No. 3 prospect.
