Gator officially announce transfer lineman Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson

Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson is an experienced offensive tackle from San Diego State

An extremely experienced offensive tackle who spent the last five seasons in the Mountain West Conference with San Diego State, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson was officially announced as a Gator on Wednesday, just three days after he announced his pledge to the program.

Crenshaw-Dickson had been a staple alone the Aztecs’ offensive front over the last several years, making 36 starts and manning both the right and left tackle positions.

The 6-foot-6, 310-pound lineman cemented himself as one of the best pass-blocking tackles in his conference, something that made him stand out to a Gator coaching staff in need of reinforcements in its protections.

Shortly after committing to Florida, Crenshaw-Dickson told Swamp247 that Gator offensive line coach Rob Sale began recruiting him nearly as soon as he hit the portal in late November.

“Coach Sale man, Coach Sale was in my ear as much as he could,” Crenshaw-Dickson said. “Getting information from me. You know, from my end, letting them know I would love to be a Gator and taking a visit. Seeing everything. Seeing Florida.”

Crenshaw-Dickson officially visited Florida from Dec. 15-17 and committed to the program by the end of the trip.

“It was an amazing visit,” Crenshaw-Dickson said. “The facilities are nothing that I’ve seen before. I really appreciate the coaches for giving me the opportunity to come out here and showcase what I have been doing on film. To come out and have a family staff, that is how I feel the coaches are. That was big for me to make my decision today. [That family feeling] was one thing I was looking for when entering the portal. Somewhere I can go and feel that family atmosphere, and also have the coaches that are able to get me to the next level.”

Phil Steele ranked Crenshaw-Dickson No. 50 among draft eligible offensive tackles, a number he is hoping to improve throughout his final year of eligibility.

It is not yet clear if Crenshaw-Dickson will play right or left tackle in 2024 as the Gators return both starting tackles from 2023: left tackle Austin Barber and right tackle Damieon George.

“One thing that they did say is that SEC football is big,” he said. “It’s the best college football that you can play, at least getting you to the next level. Being able to come in and play my one year, and get drafted potentially is something big that they all brought to my attention. SEC football is the best football in college. Being able to play there and showcase my talents against guys who would potentially be draft prospects is something I want to take advantage of.”
