For the Cincinnati Bengals, Jake Browning has been a perpetual gift. Given the season-ending injury to Week 1 starter Joe Burrow, who knows whether the Bengals would still be in the running for a playoff spot without Browning?

Recently, Browning’s popularity has sparked a great deal of curiosity, and the league has even pursued him over a trivial drug test. Browning received word that he needed to undergo a steroid test after the Bengals’ overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 at home, 27-24 (h/t the New York Post).

But prior to that, Browning had the opportunity to create NFL history, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

“On this occasion, NFL research discovered that after four starts, Browning became the first quarterback in NFL history to surpass 1,000 passing yards and a 75% completion percentage.”

In the Vikings game, Browning reached those statistical benchmarks with 324 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception on 29 of 42 completions.
