With an AC joint strain in his shoulder, standout receiver JaMarr Chase is sidelined aside from Reader, according to Taylor. Prior to his departure towards the end of the fourth quarter, when the game was about to go into overtime, Chase was spotted complaining of shoulder pain. During overtime, he was declared officially out.
ACL damage has also sidelined rookie corner back DJ Ivey for the remainder of the season, according to Taylor. Ivey was seen looking obviously distressed and in agony as he was wheeled off the Bengals sideline.
“Seeing him come off the field, seeing him in the training room last night, I know that he’ll respond the right way and it’s unfortunate for DJ, unfortunate for all of us because he’s such a big part of us,” Taylor stated. “So it’s a killer to see something like that happen to him.”
Reader has had multiple quad injuries in the past, which has destroyed his season. Reader missed the whole 2020 season due to a ruptured tendon in his left quad.
The Bengals go to Pittsburgh on Saturday, December 23 at 4:30 p.m. to play the Steelers.
