Florida State Running Back Appearance in NCAA Transfer Portal

The most recent NCAA Transfer Portal window has revealed a few surprises in Tallahassee. The Seminoles expected some attrition heading into the time, but players like running back Rodney Hill, tight end Markeston Douglas, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, and linebacker DJ Lundy expressed their plans to leave.

Before some of the names officially appeared in the gateway, there was some hope that Florida State could right the ship. Hill, on the other hand, is now in the database and ready to communicate with other programs. It took him roughly 48 hours to gain access to the portal.

It’s important mentioning that Ray (Monday) and Lundy (Wednesday) both announced their intentions to transfer prior to Hill. However, as of Friday evening, neither had been added into the database.

Hill was a member of Florida State’s running back rotation in 2023, averaging 50 yards per carry and scoring once. On the season, he also grabbed five receptions for 83 yards. In September, he had a season-high five carries for 42 yards in a tight win over Boston College.

The Georgia native was a four-star prospect in the 2022 class when he first joined the Seminoles. If he does leave, Hill will leave with 77 carries for 334 yards and two touchdowns in garnet and gold.

Other Seminoles who have entered the portal include quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back CJ Campbell, tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris, offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson, offensive lineman Qae’shon Sapp, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase, linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner, and kicker Tyler Keltner.

Defensive tackle Malcolm Ray and linebacker DJ Lundy both openly stated their intention to enter the portal but have yet to do so.

Patrick Payton, the star defensive end, earlier stated his intention to do so, but erased the references on social media and never formally appeared in the database.
