Florida State running back to use NCAA Transfer Portal

The transfer portal season is in full force as the college football season comes to a finish. The Florida State Seminoles have seen a slew of athletes leave Tallahassee. Rodney Hill, a redshirt freshman running back, has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Hill joined the program in 2022 and appeared in four games, gaining 144 yards on 27 attempts. He had the third-most touches at running back for the Seminoles last season, gaining 190 yards on 50 attempts and reaching the end zone once. He also had 83 yards receiving on five catches.

Hill entered the program in the 2022 recruiting class as a three-star running back and a top 50 athlete in Georgia.

As the Seminoles enter portal season, they now have the ability to look into running back choices for next season if Trey Benson declares for the 2024 NFL Draft. If Hill had elected to return to the program, he would have had more opportunities.

“I wanna thank my coaches and FSU for bringing me in,Much love to all my teammates and to the strength staff and trainers that have worked with me while I been here but I will be entering the transfer portal,” Hill said in a social media post.

Lawrance Toafili will most certainly be a big contributor for the Seminoles next season, but they’ll need to add depth at running back, especially now that CJ Campbell Jr. has entered the transfer portal. Caziah Holmes and Samuel Singleton Jr. will be the two backs behind Toafili in the Orange Bowl versus Georgia if Benson declares for the draft.

With two running backs in the portal, it’ll be interesting to see how the Seminoles fill that vacancy for next season as Florida State transitions into a new era at several critical positions.

The Orange Bowl will be televised on ESPN on December 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
