What Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord said about entering the transfer portal

About three hours after his unexpected decision to enter the transfer portal, Ohio State football quarterback Kyle McCord made his farewell comments.

McCord wrote a social media post, thanking his coaches and teammates and telling fans that their passion makes playing for the Buckeyes special. However, this season’s starting quarterback offered little clarity on the motivation for his decision, saying only he wanted to “explore other opportunities.”

Here is the full text of McCord’s post:

“I am extremely thankful for my time at Ohio State. Playing in the scarlet and gray was truly an honor.
“I’m grateful for all of the life long relationships I’ve made along the way here in Columbus. My teammates, my brothers, I’m appreciative for each and every one of you.
“Buckeye Nation, your passion is what makes playing in Columbus special.
“With that being said, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal to explore other opportunities.”
