The Florida State Seminoles Number 2 Wide Receiver Makes Major Announcement Regarding His Future.

The Florida State Seminoles finished the regular season with a 12-0 record and won the ACC Championship game. They averaged 37 points per game, 13th out of 133 schools.

Despite going undefeated and winning the ACC, Florida State missed out on the College Football Playoff and will play Georgia in the Orange Bowl on December 30.

Florida State will be playing without their number two wide receiver, Johnny Wilson, who declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Florida State Seminoles wide receiver started his career at Arizona State.

Johnny Wilson committed to Arizona State as a four-star recruit for the 2020 season. Wilson played in three games during the COVID-19-shortened season, recording six receptions for 89 yards. Wilson redshirted in his true freshman season.

Wilson appeared in five games during his redshirt freshman season, recording 12 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown. Wilson missed eight games because of a hamstring injury and entered the transfer portal after the 2021 season.

Wilson found a new team during the 2022 transfer portal.

Wilson transferred to Florida State for the 2022 season. Wilson broke out in his redshirt sophomore season and led the team in receiving, with 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns. Wilson was named to the 2nd-Team All-ACC.

Wilson decided to return for his redshirt junior season instead of declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Wilson’s production dropped in his junior season.

Wilson’s production dipped last season because of injuries, and Michigan State transfer Keon Coleman took over as the number one wide receiver. Wilson was the second-leading receiver with 41 receptions for 617 yards and two touchdowns in ten games. He missed three games because of an undisclosed injury.

Is Wilson the only WR to declare for the Draft?

Chances are that Keon Coleman will also declare for the NFL draft. He hasn’t made an official announcement about his future, but will probably make one soon.

Who will be the starting WRs in the bowl game?

In the event that Coleman and Wilson both miss the Orange Bowl, the Florida State offense will likely rely on Ja’Khi Douglas, Destyn Hill, and Hykeem Williams against Georgia.

Who will be their top WR next year?

Once the season is officially over, expect Florida State to find their replacements in the transfer portal. Some notable wide receivers who entered the transfer portal include Juice Wells, Will Sheppard, Julian Fleming, Donaven McCulley, and London Humphreys.

Where are they projected to go in the draft?

Keon Coleman is ranked 9th overall and is the 3rd best wide receiver in Mel Kiper’s draft rankings. Coleman will likely be a 1st or 2nd round pick if he declares.

Johnny Wilson on the other hand, is projected to be a top-100 pick in the draft. He’s an intriguing prospect because he’s listed at 6’7″ and weighs 238 pounds.

There is a chance that Wilson will have to switch to the tight end position in the NFL.
