RIDERS ADD DEEPNESS TO TRENCHES WITH THREE AMERICAN SIGNINGS
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American offensive linemen Trevor Reid and Jordan Tucker, as well as American defensive lineman Caleb Sanders.
Sanders (6’1-287) signed with the Riders in September 2023 and appeared in one game, earning two tackles.
Following the 2023 NFL Draft, he began his professional career by attending rookie camp with the New York Giants. He attended Philadelphia Eagles training camp in 2023 and appeared in one preseason game, recording three tackles.
The Iowa native attended South Dakota State University for five seasons (2018-22). The former Jackrabbit had 137 tackles, 42.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, two pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 66 games. Sanders was chosen team captain in 2022 and earned Associated Press FCS All-America First-Team honors while leading the Jackrabbits to the NCAA Division 1 Football Championship. He was chosen First Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2022 and 2020, and Second Team in 2021.
Reid (6’5-307) signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles following the 2023 NFL Draft. He attended rookie camp with the Eagles before joining the Atlanta Falcons for training camp.
Reid attended the University of Louisville for three seasons (2019-22). In 2021, he started all 13 games at left tackle and helped the offense average 210.2 running yards per game, good for third in the Atlantic Coast Conference and 22nd in the NCAA. In 2022, the former Cardinal started 11 games and helped his team lead a dominant ground attack, averaging 200.6 running yards per game, second in the ACC. In 646 pass-blocking snaps over 24 starts, the 23-year-old allowed only five sacks.
Reid played two collegiate seasons (2018-19) at Georgia Military College, where he was selected an NJCAA First-Team All-American in 2019.
Tucker (6’6-340) attended training camp and played for the Roughriders during the 2023 season. Tucker previously signed as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers following the 2022 NFL Draft and attended training camp with the squad.
Tucker attended the University of North Carolina for four seasons (2018-21). The 23-year-old appeared in 45 games and started 35 of them, mostly at right tackle. He was a member of the offensive line that helped the Tar Heel offense average 212.5 running yards per game and 35.2 points per game in 2022, the second and third best marks in the Atlantic Coast Conference, respectively. In 2021, the Georgia native started nine games at right tackle, helping the team average 537.3 total yards per game, which led the ACC and set a new school record. Tucker competed in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl following his senior season.
