Auburn signs 5-star WR

Nathan King, Christian Clemente, and Jason Caldwell react to Hugh Freeze, Marcus Davis, and Auburn’s big recruiting triumph, as Cameron Coleman, a 5-star receiver from Central-Phenix City, flipped his pledge from Texas A&M to the Tigers on Friday.

Hugh Freeze and Marcus Davis have already enlisted an excellent group of wide receivers. It’s only gotten better. Cameron Coleman, the country’s No. 8 prospect and No. 3 wide receiver, has switched his commitment from Texas A&M to Auburn. The Central-Phenix City product is the top player in Alabama.

“I like the way it’s just a family atmosphere,” Coleman previously stated. “Just the tradition they have here and just that family atmosphere.”

The recruiting has been a roller coaster, with Auburn considered the heavy favorite before a surprise pledge to the Aggies on July 4. Auburn, on the other hand, remained relentless in its chase and capitalized following Jimbo Fisher’s ouster.

Oleman joins fellow 5-star wide receiver Perry Thompson, whom Auburn switched from Alabama at Big Cat Weekend. The receiving class also includes in-state 4-stars Bryce Cain and Malcolm Simmons.

“We have one of the tightest relationships out of all the coaches that are recruiting me,” Coleman told ESPN. “Me and Coach Davis, we chop it up every day.”

Coleman was a frequent visitor on campus, attending the Georgia game and returning for multiple mid-week visits after that.

Auburn’s new administration was keen to change things at Central, where Auburn had struggled year after year despite its close proximity to campus. Auburn has now accomplished this by acquiring one of the top players in the country.
