‘Full agreement’ – Ex-Brighton and Leeds ace to sign massive new deal with title contenders.
Former Seagull ready to sign fresh contract with Premier League title contenders
Former Brighton defender Ben White is likely to sign a lucrative new deal with Arsenal.
White, 26, has excelled for the Gunners after coming from Brighton in July 2021 for £50 million. He has made 100 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s club, mostly as a right defender, and has three goals and five assists.
White’s current contract is set to expire in June 2026, but the club is eager to re-sign the defender and keep him at the Emirates for the long term.
“Talks over a new contract are progressing well and are expected to result in a full agreement in the coming months,” Football Insidertoday said.
Before joining Arsenal, the former Seagull shined at Brighton and had one outstanding season in the Premier League under then-Albion manager Graham Potter. He progressed through the youth levels on the south coast and had successful loan experiences in the Championship with Peterborough United, Newport County, and Leeds United.
Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa was a big fan of White and wanted to recruit him after Brighton won promotion to the Premier League. Brighton turned down a £25 million bid from Leeds before selling him to Arsenal a year later for treble the sum.
White, who is now earning an estimated £120,000 per week, is poised to join the likes of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba, who have all just signed better new contracts with Arsenal.
White has played four times for England, however his latest appearance for Gareth Southgate’s side was in March 2022. He was a member of the World Cup team last summer but had to leave early owing to personal issues.
